Amazon’s Project Zero launches to help brand names fight counterfeiters

Amazon has introduced a new three-pronged method of reduce the amount of counterfeit products on the website. Project Zero is an invite-only system for Amazon sellers that will allow automated protections, a self-service elimination tool and a product serialization procedure to help brands fight back against false products.

Automatic Protections. Amazon’ t new automated protections process is certainly powered by machine learning technologies that continuously scans product entries on the platform. Scanning more than 5 billion listings and product up-dates daily, Amazon report its automatic service will proactively remove thought counterfeit products.

“ We’ ve been testing these types of automated protections with a number of brand names, and on average, our automated defenses proactively stop 100 times a lot more suspected counterfeit products as compared to what we should reactively remove based on reports through brands, ” writes Amazon’ ersus VP of customer trust plus partner support Dharmesh Mehta.

A self-service elimination tool. With Amazon’ s new self-service counterfeit elimination tool, brands will no longer have to record fake products to Amazon plus wait for an action to be taken. Rather Amazon sellers will be able to remove fake product listings on their own, without having to record the fake product.

Product serialization. Amazon is also rolling away a product serialization service where a brand name is given unique codes which are placed on each unit it companies. When a product that includes a serialization program code is ordered, Amazon can check out and verify the authenticity from the purchase.

“ Using this product serialization service, we can today detect and stop counterfeiting for every item unit before it reaches a client, ” writes Mehta.
